NESTLE
Nestle is the largest food company in the world. It 413 factories in 85 countries. According to 2018-annual-review-en.pdf file that is shared on their page we can find out where are confectionery factories. It's:
- Americas: Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru, United States and Venezuela;
- Asia, Oceania and sub-Saharan Africa: Australia, Ghana, Greater China Region, India, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Nigeria and South Africa;
- Europe, Middle East and North Africa: Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Egypt, Germany, Hungary, Israel, Italy, Poland, Republic of Serbia, Romania, Russia, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates and United Kingdom;
Unfortunately, for some time most products have no information about origin what's give us, collectors, problems to categorize their wrappers. Especially that concerns like Nestle specialize factories to produce certain kind of products so there can be one type of chocolate bar made in one factory and sold in different countries like these:
Spanish, Greek and French version of Nestle couverture chocolate bar. |
Even barcodes are not helpful:
"A barcode tells you nothing about the product itself or about where the product was made. [...] The only thing that the first few digits of a barcode can tell you is where the barcode originated from (not where the product originated from)."
The only option that I found is to use wrappers with information about origin and according to them analyze wrappers with no information. If you look closer on some wrappers you can notice that different factories have their unique look of stamps. Examples:
Italy - Nestlé Italiana S.p.A. |
Czech Republic - Nestlé Česko s.r.o. |
Spain - Nestlé España S.A. |
Switzerland - Société des Produits Nestlé S.A. |
United Kingdom - The Nestlé Company Ltd |
